Sunday Thoughts: Cups of Pain, Comfort, Hope

I call my tea 'comfort in a cup'. There are many things we can find comfort in: a special chair, comfort from our pets, comfort in a smell or a comfort food.

Life sometimes serves us 'cups of pain', however. I have to admit that last week, I felt a range of emotions from what I was served.

Just as I started to feel really out of sorts, I got a dose of perspective. I have friends that are dealing with REALLY big problems. Any issues I felt I had were like a few grains of sand compared to their mountains.

I don't understand why good people have to suffer or why someone has to watch their child get blood transfusions and chemo.

I am reminded though that the sun shines and the rain falls on good and bad people alike. (Matthew 5:45)

Pain can settle into our minds and souls to make things seem dark and hopeless.

My hope is in the Lord.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)

My hope too is in the Lord. I too wonder why one suffers and one doesn't, but that is the will of God and his sovereignity though it might not make sense to us at all.

I hope the day is a good one!

I know exactly what you mean and hope your troubles...big or small...soon will be better. Life gives us all those cups of pain sometimes.

Parsley,

Peace is not the absence of trouble, but the presence of Christ. (Sheila Walsh)

Since coming back from my road trip, I have definitely stepped back and taken stock in my priorities. Talk about perspective, indeed. And I, too, trust in the Lord.

Parsley know my prayers are with you and your friends. It is hard watching a child struggle through an illness. But we know God is always near and ever present! He will never leave nor forsake us.

Hugs.

Each of us experiences some pain and loss in this life - perhaps to make the happy moments happier... but life throws a lot of good and bad at each of us... so we have to remember that when talk to others.

Hugs you again - thanks for being there - for me.
