Sunday Thoughts: Be 'Progressive'

Progressive: making progress toward something (good or bad)

A man from our bible study class was sharing how in the past, he could out drink or out cuss anyone. He knew Jesus but he had not really committed his life to him.

At one point, he said, he realized that Jesus was his Savior, but not his Lord. Once he gave his life to the Lord completely, he no longer desired his old ways. He progressed toward something good/ better. It's something to celebrate.

I think we all have seen people who progress away from 'good'. These people engage in destructive behaviors that are taking them farther away from a safe limit or from God's plan. It's truly sad and yet they celebrate their choices calling it 'freedom' all the while being enslaved by those behaviors.

None of us are pure or holy but when we give our lives completely to Christ, our desires should slowly change to what he wants us to be. This is the process of sanctification. With God's direction, he can put us on a path toward that goal.

We should be 'progressive', working toward something better. We should prayerfully ask God, seek guidance from scripture, and be willing to make him Lord over the things we need to let go.

Romans 12:2  Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Hi Parsley
We don't know how to respond but we really believe treat others how you wish to be treated yourself. That is how we live. Sadly we often we are alone. Lovely words. Take Care.
Best wishes Molly

It takes work within ourselves to pursue God. One thing that makes me more reassured is that, like sheep, if we are led astray and we are truly His, He our sheperd will come after us to bring us back. What a gentle Lord is ours :)
