Visit to the Animal Shelter and Pumpkins
Yesterday my daughter and I went to the local animal shelter. Our 4H club made treat bags to send home with adopted dogs and cats and we had to deliver them before my own dogs tried to eat them all! :-)
The top picture makes me mad, sad, and sick. There were two cages of terriers rescued from a hoarding/breeding situation. UGH! Now they have a chance to get a good home. You'll see my daughter, the animal whisperer, in the picture below. She is a natural at getting animals to trust her.
We also went to a local garden center and picked out our porch and table pumpkins. I let my daughter choose whatever she wanted and let her do all the decorating. It's a tradition. I think she did a great job!
It won't be long until we make caramel apples. Fall is upon us. Do you have any fall traditions with family?

Your daughter did a great job on the Fall decor! I have my house decorated for Fall, but no pumpkins or gourds yet... it's too hot to sell them here and they don't show up in the stores until October.
Wow, absolutely fantastic display of pumpkins!!
What I see in all that - is a fantastic daughter!
DD really did an excellent job on the pumpkin!! Dog Whisperer, interior decorator extraordinaire!
Your daughter is so sweet x
Thats a great idea to visit the shelter and take presents!! Sending you a great big hug!

Hi Parsley, my heart is so sad that people hoard animals but at least they have a chance of a good home now. Daughter rocks the Fall display, looks great. My family always piles in the truck and go leaf peeping and enjoy the beauty of nature in the Fall every year, so much fun. Blessings Francine.
Hello
Just found your blog.
I'm glad the dogs were rescued and will be given new homes. It's lovely that you gave them treat bags.
Your pumpkin decorations look lovely.
Nice photo of your daughter too.
Hi Parsley firstly we wish those animals forever hones soon. Lovely table decorations. We have no fall traditions just looking forward to Halloween. Have a wonderful Wednesday.
Best wishes Molly
Your daughter is awesome. :)
Poor pooches.... :(
Your daughter has a beautiful heart. I love the fall decorations.
We've had a good year this year and plan to celebrate the holidays in style! We love your pumpkins.
...and kudos for reaching out to help those animals!

Your daughter's fall decorating is gorgeous!
Wonderful photos.:)
Animal shelters are very sad places. I am so happy that you and your DD go & visit the animals. The treat bags are a great idea ;). Love your pumpkins!!
I always liked to go to a pumpkin farm to get my pumpkin. The kind where it's 40 degrees out and you are hiking in the slushy field to find your pumpkin straight off the vine. My first year in an apartment, I found that there was a pumpkin farm not too far away from where I worked (which was kinda in the middle of nowhere) so I got one there. I don't know if pumpkins can grow in Texas because I've not seen any farms near me. Grocery store it is :(
Your daughter did a beautiful job on your table.
Those pets are so sweet! I saw a piece on the local news about these rescue dogs. One had an owner who passed away suddenly and looked like he needed a new good home! Another had been kicked so hard he had to have multiple surgeries and a third one had a family with life changes! My heart aches for these pets. After three years we finally have Stella trusting us. She was battered so badly her eye is damaged! She is so sweet and kind and she always accompanies me to water my little plants on the front porch. She is a kind heart and I think secretly an angel sent from God! She has held me upright since my kitty passed away! Love your daughters pumpin pickings!
Parsley,
Your daughter did a wonderful job decorating for fall! Thomas and I decided we will be adopting our next dog. Scout was a rescue. It breaks my heart when I see all the animals that need loving homes.
Your Friend,
Deborah
