This week I went to my doctor and so did Snuffy. My heart sounds great. Snuffy's does not. Snuffy has some bad teeth that need to be looked at. I also mentioned her bloated look and he confirmed my fears. During the exam, the vet said she had a "significant heart murmur" and has heart disease/heart failure.
Since she has the severe murmur, I have opted NOT to put her under for dental treatment. She is 10 years old. I would likely loose her during treatment. We are treating the infected teeth with antibiotics and will treat as they flare up. We also have lasix and a heart stimulant to begin giving her.
I will never forget the look on my husband's face as he was holding Snuffy and heard the word 'heart failure'. He is still spinning after loosing his Rosie, his big girl, and now he is looking at tending his little girl's severe health issues. (Snuffy clings to him. He is her human.)
Onward we go focusing on the wagging tails and positive thoughts...
Yesterday, we traded my car for a new one. I don't normally name my cars but I can't resist naming this one my TARDIS. (A Doctor Who transportation ship) It's a beauty and will be under warranty so dear hubby doesn't have to worry about fixing it himself should something go wrong. What a blessing.

We hope Snuffy will be OK. Pippinpumkin has the same problem and we started her on meds and she is like a new dog. However we too cannot have her teeth cleaned for the same reason. Well at 15 we just put up with dog breath. Have a terrific Thursday.

I am sorry to hear this news. I hope that Snuffy is feeling a bit better and that there are still many adventures to share together!!
That is the only single drawback to being a good guardian to furbabies. When they leave us it breaks our hearts. I hope the medication works and she perks up. A lovely start xx
