It is not new, news. Every year we hear stories about how clerks are encouraged to say 'Happy Holidays' instead of Merry Christmas. We now hear how political officials want to call the trees 'Holiday Trees' instead of Christmas Trees.
I personally take NO offense to being wished a 'Happy Holiday'...but to
call a Christmas tree a Holiday tree?...a foolish game of words. You don't see
these same people renaming a Menorah, a candle holder.
It is troubling that companies or government systems feel the need to tell others what to say or call symbols something else so non-Christians aren't offended. I wonder if the offended parties argue with their employer saying they want to work on December 25 because by closing a store or office in observance, they are forcing them to celebrate a religious holiday.
Do people not care that redefining a traditional holiday symbol to soothe one group, offends the Christians? It seems to be the one religion that is allowed little tolerance. All this fuss to avoid (gasp) a Christ reference. (We could get into a discussion that the tree is a pagan symbol but I see no need.)
Christmas is the name of the holiday, period, and non-Christians celebrate it with as much joy and enthusiasm as I do. I simply think it is intellectually dishonest to call the day and its symbols something else.
Mark 8:38
If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.”

Powerful words. I am not surprised in today's world by the influence of Man. If only they would stop and look around they might get IT!
I had to laugh at your reference of the Manorah to candle holders (LOL). I have always disliked it when a retail place has wished me a Happy Holiday...I have always and will always respond "Merry Christmas"...for that is what it is Christmas (a celebration of Christs' arrival) and NO government official can take Christ out of Christmas! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
I agree with you on this subject 100%!
We call it a Christmas tree and we also say Merry Christmas and if people don't like "TOUGH"!!! It is the Lord's Birthday, and we live by his word!
Christmas Blesings,
Tricia
CHRISTMAS CHRISTMAS CHRISTMAS. Need I say more.
Have a terrific Thursday.
best wishes Molly
I SO totally agree!!! The fact is that Christmas is the celebration of Jesus birth, so to take him out of it then there would be NO holiday!
You are so right and I so agree.
Thank God He sent Christ to save sinners, though He is despised and rejected.
Wow, very well said my friend! Merry Christmas my dear :o)
Excellent post. I agree!
It is Merry Christmas and a Christmas tree.
Truly a wonderful post.
Happy Christmas xxx
Amen, Christ is in Christmas, leave it be.......Merry Christmas my friend,Blessings Francine.
Right on, girlfriend! I had another reference, another perfect example but I don't think I ought to say it here. It is so un-PC!
Amen, you go girl, preach it, more, more, here, here! Can you tell that I agree? I hope so!!!!
Blessings to you for speaking the truth...
Heather
You know Christians are a minority now.
I take this opportunity now to wish you a very blessed and Merry Christmas.
Love,
Jackie
You go girl...you have hit the nail on the head....it is time we speak loud and clear that this is not what we will tolerate! Thanks for stopping by. I put up new pictures today if you want to stop back! Dianntha
Preach on sis, amen.
It's the same here in the Uk, some schools will no longer let the small children take part in a nativity play in case it offends some parents.
So true and well said. They always seem to be so concerned about offending someone...except CHRISTians. Stand up, Believers, and take back our religious freedoms. Speak the truth in love.
MERRY CHRISTMAS one and all! God bless us, everyone!
Since all this silliness started I've said Merry Christmas more than ever. And I won't even buy cards if they say Happy Holidays. I'm a Christian who celebrates Christmas and I'm not ashamed of it!
I agree with you! Well said!
:)
Parsley,
Bravo for this post! I plan on doing one on the exact subject. It's funny how no one is offended by the religion that blows things up if you insult them.
Merry Christmas.

Well said. Have you heard the Kutless song, This is Christmas?
"...This is Christmas,
It's all about a Savior,
Wrapped in a manger,
This is Christmas because of Jesus Christ..."
So Happy Christmas to all!
Attack a gay or a Muslim with unkind words and pay a hefty price. But Christians are murdered daily overseas and America turns its blind eye to the likes of Brad and Angie and Lindsay Lohan! Aack!
Our country is in the mess it is in due to political correctness. People hate to hear it but it is true.
Holiday tree my foot! It is all about Christ and I will say Merry Christmas until I can no longer speak!
My dad would say "You would not want to be those folks when they meet their maker. It will be a sad and very shameful time for them."
