On my 'work' facebook page I post pics of the dogs I pet care for, dog cartoons, and dogs that are up for adoption in the local shelter. In January, I posted one of a little Chihuahua and a friend fell in love with her and adopted her. Wonderful, I thought, and I get to pet sit, which I did... but...
Things in her life changed. The dog was a comfort to her after the loss of her husband but several months later she found she would be helping a lot with her young grandkids (who were scared of dogs) and found out the dog didn't do well with other people. She was also going to be traveling for long periods of time.
So, she told me she was seeking a new home. I know it wasn't easy for her to make the decision. I felt sorry for her AND the dog but I had NO intention of being the new home. None. Nada. Zilch.
BUT...my husband started sulking. I said "NO! Six dogs are MORE than enough for one family to vet and care for." He quietly said, "I know."
Time passed. Her pleas for a new home were not answered by that 'right home'.
My dear husband was doing a pretty good job of not begging but there's this 'thing' I know about him. It's something about his eyes and the look he gets. I knew deep down, he really, REALLY wanted her and he might have deep regrets if I didn't let her come live with us.
So...I finally gave in and said "Let's go get your dog." and here she is, little TRIXIE BELLE. She's fitting right in. She is two years old and less than four pounds. Since she has been here as a client, she has no fears of being here with my dogs and family and she LOVES that she isn't behind a gate as a client. She is roaming the house as a family member.
I can't say no to my dear husband or to this face. Do you blame me?

No,I don't.:)
So cute.:)
She is gorgeous, I can see why your husband wanted her!
Glad to hear she's settling well with your other doggies.
Have a good weekend (:
She is such a pretty girl.
I said no, no, NO. And that is why we have three dogs. She obviously needs a nice big pack so she feels safe and secure and can be ok around a lot of people. She is a little sweetheart...Im afraid I would have said no in the same way as you..which would have led to four dogs lol. Your friend made the right decision, hard though it must have been. Give her a hug from me.
This just brought tears to my eyes...
NO, I absolutely could NOT say no to this precious sweetheart - she is so cute.
You know, I am often reminded that God's original plan included giving us the responsibility of caring for his animal kingdom. And when we do, I think we are especially blessed!
Welcome, Trixie Belle!
GOD BLESS!
What a sweetie! I love chihuahuas and would have taken her in a heartbeat... but unfortunately live too far away!
Ahhh, cute.x

Trixie Belle is adorable. Look how grateful and happy she is! Thank you for following my blog. Now I am following you too.

Nope...can't blame you. Here I am struggling with the decision to give in and adopt just ONE dog and you have SEVEN??? Good grief.
Trixie is a cutie!
Oh Trixie Belle! You precious, precious thing. Good for you Parsley. In our home, it is me. My husband gives in to me. He knows my heart. That is why we got 4 lb Henry this year. ;)
What a cutie-pie Trixie belle is! She doesn't look like she'll take up too much room at all. Congrats on the addition of a new family member!
Oh I LOVE Trixie-Belle! I actually shared her with my daughter Emily, who has a chihuahua (Butters). She told me to adopt her! :) So glad YOU did. She is beautiful.
Your Friend,
Deborah
So glad that she has found her home with you. Some things are meant to be :)
I am sure she will be a happy addition to your family. I know exactly what you are going through.... we now have 6 cats. We had 2 cats year and a half ago. My son rescued a batch of kittens and we ended up adopting 2 of them. This year once again he found another batch of kittens. We were only going to adopt one but we fell in love with 2 of them. They add much joy and laughter to our lives.
Awwwwww. It was meant to be. Congrat's on the new "girl" in your family. ;-)
She is cutie. It's so nice you could take her.
She is adorable--so glad she has found a loving home :)

It would be hard for me to say no too! sandie
