I became a crazed WOMAN on a MISSION. Me...invisible? Ha! No longer! I
was determined to get this guy's attention no matter how shy he was.
I walked over to his table and offered to buy his meal with 'my card'.
It said "give Christ-CHARGE of your life" and it looked like a
Master-Charge credit card. He smiled and quietly said, "I don't think
that will work."
Apparently my tactics were the things that 'didn't work'. I wasn't giving up though.
He lived out of state but every weekend he came back to town where he
attended church with his family, which was also my church. I was
attending a discipleship class and among the books in required study was
a 'dating and waiting for marriage' book.
After service one morning, I walked up to him as he was getting in his
truck. I offered him the 'dating and waiting for marriage' book and
said, "Would you like to buy this book? With it, you get the date of your choice." Oh, YES! I REALLY DID say that!!!
His reply? "Uh. No thanks." Oh, yes, that's exactly what he said in return!
I walked to my car with the friend who worked at the Italian restaurant.
I told her I didn't know what came over me, as that was REALLY out of
character for me. She consoled me. I felt like a total fool, and for
good reason. I threw myself at this man and was rejected. Oh well,
nothing ventured nothing gained I thought.
Funny thing though, he began showing up at the Italian restaurant more
often to see his cousin. Of course I was visiting my friend and was
there just as often.
Hmmmm...curious as to what happens next? Oh yeah...it gets even better!

Oh my gosh, you were quite bold and brave!! And you did not dissolve in tears after the rejections, you had fortitude!
lol this reminds me of some cringe worthy moments in my own dating life. Impatient little minxs arent we when someone catches our eye? Lucky my now husband didnt mind and this year will bring our 6th year of marriage and 4th bundle of joy :D
