The Wiener Roast Trap (My Husband, Final)

This is the last of MY posts on the subject. Soon to come, Sage's side of the story. I've almost caught this blog up on the posts about us. Enjoy!
__

We both continued to visit the restaurant. Often, we were the only ones in the restaurant so we had plenty of opportunity to talk, though we never ate. (Yes, it eventually went out of business.)  One day, I left work to find a note under my windshield wiper.

"Come by the restaurant after work, if you want to." signed 'Sage'.

IF I want to?...IF?! Good grief man! Get a clue, I thought! YES, I want to! So I popped over and we chatted. This guy still hadn't officially asked me out so...

Out of the blue, I told 'Sage' that I was having friends over for a wiener roast and wondered if he wanted to come. He said "Yes." Problem was, I did NOT have a plan. With the help of my gal friend, we made it happen. We invited some other guys and sent them with 'Sage' for the groceries. Everyone showed up at my house for the unplanned party.

That night we were all laughing by the campfire and I touched his shoulder. He recoiled. (So shy!) But as he was leaving that night, he asked me out for the following weekend!

We had a wonderful time together on our first date and we continued to go out, though only on weekends since he lived out of state. Two weeks later, we declared our love to each other. A few more weeks and we became engaged. Exactly 6 months from our first date we were married. True story.

We are going on 23 years of marriage now. We are both older and grayer but I still feel all warm and happy when he holds my hand. I'm glad he finally took notice of me and that God read that letter I wrote.

Oh!? Did I forget to mention he has all the attributes I put on my wish list in that letter? Yes, and he's even 6'2" exactly, just like I requested. I'm NOT kidding. God is so good and I am so blessed.

(Stay tuned for HIS side of the story.) ~~ Parsley and Sage

Still in love today.

It has been so much fun reading the story of how you and Sage got together! No-one can ever accuse you of not following your dream. You are a very lucky couple!
