Out of the Closet ;-)

Sometimes I get into a cleaning mindset. I got tired of hanging Sage's clothes in a crowded closet. I've told him that the shirts will wrinkle with me trying to wedge them between each other but he never got to 'my' project. (Perhaps this is why I regularly use the back of the couch as an additional clothes dresser.)

His t-shirt collection of 20+ years had already taken over the extra closet. Some shirts have memories associated with them or a fun slogan, but that didn't mean he planned on wearing them. Still...it was time for them to come OUT OF THE CLOSET. ;-) I pulled many out and put them in the living room where I determined they would stay until he went through them.

When Sage saw the mass of shirts, I think he realized it was time to say goodbye to some of them. Until then out of sight was out of mind. We gave away 2 trash bags of shirts to the Goodwill.

He also found this treasure that I had hidden misplaced....

It was his favorite shirt to sleep in for many, many years. Can you tell how threadbare it is?

It too had to go but to the trash instead of Goodwill. He was reluctant to part with it but he will always be able to look at this picture to help him remember his 'friend'. Poor Sage. I hope this post made in remembrance of his shirt will bring him some comfort during his time of loss.

LOL!! Fun post. I need to get heartless with my own closets as they are overflowing. I have already gifted Goodwill with several bags of clothing this year.

Good grief! We live parallel lives. :-) Just this morning I was looking at Kevin's stuffed side of the closet. I've hesitated to get rid of any, but I think I'll do it exactly the way you did, when he's got time and finds them in a pile in the living room. :-))))

Parsley,
What a timely post! Due to the lack of closet space in our 1880 Victorian farmhouse, we have to be very disciplined with what we keep. I am currently in the process of sorting through things in storage -- Yard Sale. Donate. Trash. Repeat.
Its not the item we are attached to but what it represents and that can be stored in our hearts.

Sounds like my Mom cleaning out her closet. Do you know how much it screams "I totally lived the seventies?" Kinda like the wall paper in her kitchen (she didn't put it up btw, it was already there when we bought the house).

good for you for doing this Parsley. I'm a big fan of not allowing things like this to clutter a closet or whatever. I have heard of people making quilts out of their favorite tee shirts that remind them of events, etc......but I don't think I'd ever do that myself :)

Too funny! Why is it so hard to part with some items of clothing? I have tshirts that I will never wear again, but still hang on to.

Poor Sage.

I don't get atatched to clothes; I have a few sets, and I replace them when they need it, and that's all.

I love t shirts so I can relate! Sometime though some have to go!
