Bringing Food

I am planning on taking a meal to a friend who has two very sick little ones. Her three year old has kidney failure and her five year old has leukemia. Some of us are taking turns bringing meals on the days of his chemo. Guess what I am bringing? Hamburgers. Yep, I am an expert at hamburgers. Seems to be my hubby's favorite go to meal anyway. This family has seen all types of casseroles so I figure it's time for something plain. Hamburgers, chips, and ice cold watermelon.

Made me think...if I needed a meal brought, what would I want? Pizza! Or Italian with lots of cheese! Or fresh fruit and cheeses! How about some not too spicy Mexican with cheese! Cheese! Seems to be a theme! How about cheesecake for dessert! Lol What food would YOU like to show up at your door tonight?

Hello

Thank you for your lovely comment on my blog.
I think your choice of meal for your friend is perfect!
If I could have food delivered I would go for an enormous bowl of porridge with fruit!
I know, it's a bit weird!

I choose Pizza from Pizza Hut, my favorite, sausage, mushrooms and lots of cheese.

I think you are wonderful for remembering folks who need help. Bless you!!

That's so sweet of you to help your friend out - this must be a stressful time for her - I feel her pain - my 11 month old son has had kidney problem since he was 3 days old - he is due for an operation soon - it's heart breaking - despite his illness he dons't have a problem eating and enjoys hamburger and chips any day of the week :)

What a blessing for this family to know you! Years ago I began a Blessed Meal Ministry at church...I will keep this family in my thoughts and prayers. A favorite meal is the roasted chicken(prepared from grocer), potato salad and sliced watermelon! Yummy! Hugs to you!

What a fantastic friend you are...your goodness will come back to you tenfold! When you're finished delivering hamburgers to the little ones...you could drop by my place with a big 'ol bucket of KFC with mashed potatoes, gravy, and biscuits! LOL

Schnitzel, spaetzel, hard rolls and maybe some broccoli. I think I'm in the mood for some German food so it's off to the freezer I go to see what I can make! I like your idea of hamburgers. Might perk up the little ones' appetites.

What a tough thing for that family! So nice that people are helping with meals.

What I would like to appear at my door this evening is a pan of gluten-free, calorie-free lasagne and a big green salad. :-) What time can I expect you? hehe

The melon is a perfect idea for someone undergoing chemo..it affects your mouth and taste and nice cool melon seems to keep it flavour despite the effects of the drugs. So sorry that a single family has to go through so much..please give them a hug for me.

What you're taking would be no good to me. I don't eat meat, and I'm allergic to melon. But if you want to bring me something then I wouldn't mind a nice salad and some strawberries.

P.S. I think it's wonderful that people are taking the time to help that family!

Bless your heart for providing such a yummy meal for this family.

Well I have weird preferences when it comes to food so I guess I would just like a bunch of fruit and a box of Special K cracker/chips. Ever had them? They are awesomeness in a box!!

:o)

Parsley,
You are a blessing to know. Your friend and her family are in my prayers. I have been the recipient of such kindness although I was the sick one and could not eat anything but Italian ice. I've also done the same for others I've known.
Your Friend,

Oh, I just can't imagine what this family must be going through--I'm sure your gift of food is so greatly appreciated... Please keep us posted as to how they are doing...

I bet the family appreciated it, Parsley; how sad what they are going through, glad they have the support of people to help bring in meals! I always take a mac and cheese with chicken and veggie thingie when taking a meal to someone; kids seem to like it with the mac and cheese :)

Won't you be my neighbor?! What a wonderful gift for the family, I know it's a big help. We were spoiled when I had my youngest almost 6 years ago, several moms from school brought over dinner for us at different times - such a treat.

Prayers for the family...

I think just seeing someone at the door that cared enough to stop by would be "food for the soul".

I hope the little ones heal and feel all better very soon.
