Gingerbread Cottage

I took a break from stitching this to work on an exchange piece but got some progress on it over the weekend. I'm getting really close to finishing Gingerbread Cottage by Country Cottage Needleworks. It's so sweet it almost gives me a toothache ;-)

I'm really getting in the mood for Christmas. This last weekend my husband and daughter rang the bells for Salvation Army. It's a great charity that works hard to give to people in need rather that pay leadership enormous salaries.

We were cold but our hearts were warm as we watched people join us in helping the community.

I'm a people watcher. I found myself imagining the lives of the people who donated. One thing I noticed/assumed is that more people that looked like they had known what it is 'to need', donated. May God bless them all.

I think you are right. People who give know what it is like to want. Have a marvelous Monday.

The cottage is very 'sweet.' Kudos to your family for manning the Salvation Army Kettles. They are such a worthwhile cause.

I think there are many more needy people than we realize. This has been a tough economy on everyone and will be a difficult Christmas for many.

Very pretty stitching.I love the background color.

Ringing the salvation army bell is one that humbles you....my sons and husband ring it every year. Giving always is the best to do no matter the season!
Love your Gingerbread Cottage :) Coming right along!

Parsley,
I have finally found a moment to sit and catch up on my blog reading. The cottage you stitched couldn't be sweeter. I can never pass a Salvation Army bell ringer without making a donation. I always remember my mother's stories about how they gave them Christmas gifts and dinner when she was a child growing up poor.

the cottage really is darling! :) Are you going to put it in a frame to hang on the wall? You oughta!

I am also a people watcher. People are so intricate and complicated and baffling, sometimes!

Oh yes, a very sweet cottage! Another one I might have to look into.

I really feel we are blessed and have so much, I'm very happy to clean house and donate. Getting that through to my six year old is a little difficult, but he's trying!
