Listening to the Voice

I have learned there are things beyond my understanding and my faith tells me that some things are purposed.

Many of you understand the power of a 'random act of kindness' (RAK), how as a giver and receiver you feel blessed by the act.

I just wanted to share my husband's recent story in hopes it will encourage all of us to listen to the Voice, which I believe was the Holy Spirit working through him.

Last week my husband and I were at a half price book store. He found a special Bible...it was in camouflage. He knew he didn't 'need' it but thought it was cool so he bought it.

A few days later he was visiting an 'online community' and the thought struck him to send this Bible to a man who pastors and helps others in this community with prayer and support.

Here's the email response to this RAK:

The Lord works in mysterious ways, and your kind gesture/gift surely prove that once again.  THANK YOU for the Camo NKJV Bible!

I have had on my "unwritten/unspoken" wish list exactly that, but had never seen one locally that combined the camo theme with the NKJV text - they were always in other versions.  How did you know? Ah, the Holy Spirit at work through you, Sir!  Additionally, the size of of this - both overall and the print size - are perfect, too.

I am truly blessed by your following His direction to present this to me.  I will use it as my primary resource for years to come I'm sure.

You and your family are in our prayers for an abundantly blessed Christmas season.  Thank you again for sharing the faith.

May you be blessed in all ways, always!
Your brother in Christ,
John

Don't you just love it when the Spirit speaks and we actually recognize the prompting?! Great story, thank you so much for sharing it.

OOoooh I love it when that happens! When you know for sure, without a doubt that you worked as God's vessel in some way. Goosebumps!! the good kind.

Lovely. I have not turned to the Bible at all through my breastcancer diagnosis and on a whim I picked the book up and opened it with a secret message; what do I need to know at this time; the passage my eyes were drawn to on this 'whim' were: ' I have walked by your side these 40 years'. It was an old testament book and I am 42. I would say I became aware of God at the age of 2. Amazing and gave me the comfort I needed. God accepts us for who we are and just sends us little reminders. How wonderful it this?

Such a wonderful story. I am trying very hard to listen to my inner feelings and thoughts and do what I am told, even when it seems a strange thing to do. Xx

It's been a long time since I came by for a visit. I haven't been blogging much lately at all, but I'm getting back into it slowly. This stop here for me was timely, a reminder not to question the "little things" I think I should do. We never know what God is planning for someone else or how we can be an answered prayer for them. Thanks for this reminder!

Wow! Thank you for passing on such a lovely story. It just goes to prove that we should all be listening a lot more to that inner voice & tuning out all the external rubbish that fills our heads! Well done to your hubby for listening :)

I also believe the "voice" or urging we feel in our hearts is the Holy Spirit.
