Am I a strange female? and a Bit-o-Crafty

Okay...for those that have gotten to 'know' me via blogging the answer to the question is YES, I am strange ;-) but this question is deeper.

I am a people watcher. I observe actions, conversations, body language and so forth. Last week I was listening to ladies talk about  purses, shoes, and clothes and pop out designer names. I was shown purses, expected to ooh and awe over them, and while they were nice they weren't interesting to me.

I had excused my ignorance saying I have only one purse that goes with nothing, one pair of dress shoes (black) and have no idea what clothes look good together or what designers they were mentioning. Giggles ensued, though not in a mocking manner. People are just different...I'm different.

I wouldn't mind having a new purse, designer or not, but I certainly am not the type to talk about how much it was worth or who made it. I guess it's just not important to me. I don't mind that it's important to others but I feel like maybe I'm missing something.

I think my husband considers me 'low-maintance'. ;-) I don't really care about jewelry and acquiring clothing, shoes, purses and other 'girly' things. I do however, seem to acquire dogs and now I desire new stitching stash. ;-)

So...that explained...am I a strange female?

Now for a bit-o-crafty. Here are some items I've been working on. What do ya think? Feeling like fall/Halloween yet?

If you're strange, then so am I! I like clothes and jewelry and all that, but I buy what *I* like and not what is in fashion. In off hours, I am a t-shirt and sweat pants person. Plus, I do the majority of my shopping at Goodwill and garage sales! I don't care what others think!

Love your halloween stitching!

I think God created no robots.
Just very special different people.
I'd rather have a bundle of wool and coffee over jewelry or big meal out any day..
Woolie hugs

Adorable pin keeps:)

Well, you HAVE To be strange. Because if you aren't then there is no way in the world you will be able to understand ME! And I think you understand me oh so well! HUGS

Sisters, we are, my friend!
I'm with you about the purses and shoes. I have more than one purse, but I don't like to switch my stuff from one to the other so I carry mine forever.
Shoes...I have the basic, black, beige, blue, and white in a flat that is comfortable to me. I wear my flat shoes to church, funerals, and places that I feel that I need to dress "up"...and I wear my tennis shoes almost all other places.
I love comfort. I haven't figured out why people need to talk about their designer purses and shoes, etc., but I'm afraid that it's because of something they are missing in their lives.
Sending you hugs and reminding you that you aren't weird. You are perfectly normal.
Love,
J.

I agree with Terri - if you are strange then so am I. :) I was never one to have a purse or shoes to match every outfit. I'm sure I've appalled many people in my lifetime with my lack of style, but that type of thing just isn't my thing. :) Love the Halloween stitching, and I'm looking forward to fall!

We're all different, this is what makes the world :) Personally, I don't care what people think or what is in fashion, I just buy what I like!!! Love all your Halloween stitchy projects...It's approaching quite quickly :)

Well, I don't stitch, but other than that, we're definitely cut from the same cloth! Dogs and books for me. Designer anything unless it's at Goodwill and I've been unaware of the designer factor, doesn't interest me at all.

Lovely stitching and the pincushions are very cute!
I don't have any idea about fashion or designer labels, I'm afraid they are lost on me! We are all different and that's what makes the world!
Have a good day (:

I am pretty low maintenance too, so I don't think you are strange at all! I like the crafts! The pin cushions are too cute!

My mum sent me a designer bag for christmas one year: so designer it came in its own bag....and I wondered if she ever really knew me! I gave it away. Not out of ingratitude but because I would use it for carrying eggs ,sick chicks, bird food and even the odd veg. If you are weird then so am I. I used to work in retail and now I hate it..any form of shopping is torture to me and a waste of life, unless it is crafty shopping or animal shopping. But hang one: most of us have said if you are weird then so are we....so that is the majority....so we must be the normal ones!!!! Love the stitching..how did you do the soda tops??? They are so cute!

Nope, I don't think you are strange or maybe we are all strange in our own different ways! I like being a low maintenance kind of gal. Your WIPs are super looking! Cute pincushions!

Parsley we just think you have a fuller life. No need to be fretting over the latest designer con for us either. Far more important things in life. But we agree each to their own. Love your little pin cushions. Have a terrific Tuesday.
Best wishes Molly

You are not strange. Sometimes I look at a pair of shoes or a purse and think how much rug hooking wool I could buy for that amount ;)

I'm not really into clothes either. I only started thinking about investing in some makeup because I'm not happy with how pregnancy has changed my skin.

Good for you! I see you gave the bottle cap pincushions a try. They look great.

I'm in your club. My bags tend to come from charity shops . I wouldn't thank anyone for a designer one. Shoes and clothes are comfort first and anyone who doesn't like it can stuff. I hate shopping for clothing and shoes etc. But , I'm perfectly happy in a craft /stitchy store or looking at toys and teddies ,lol .
Pet shops are good too ,as long as the animals are well looked after .X

I echo your thoughts 100 percent. I hate to shop, could care less who made it and only do shop when necessary. I bought some new tops and pants last year when we went on our cruise. Last time I bought new clothes was at least 15 years ago.
Love your halloween stitching.

I agree with you. I couldn't care less about the latest fashion. I go for the comfortable look. :-)

You don't sound strange to me at all. Clothes don't maketh the person. Loving the Halloween WIPS!

I personally like your kind of *strange* - I can relate. I've never really liked typical "girlie" things - always seemed to enjoy the company of my brother's friends more than the girls discussing fashion, makeup, or nail polish. I'm always telling my husband how lucky he is that I LOVE sports - football, hockey especially. There are no sports "widows" in my house.

So, no, a designer purse would not get me excited either.

A dog, however??? Yes!!

You are not strange at all, we have a lot in common.

I can totally relate to what you said and if you are strange for it then so am I :) I don't understand the need for designer bags/shoes and bragging about them!

I have one bag, a pair of really comfy running shoes, a few pairs of jeans and some t-shirts. I care more about comfort than style.

Plus I need my money for cross stitch shopping.....priorities :)

Great Halloween projects!

I think we're all different and there is nothing wrong with that. Personally, I go for functional more than fashionable.

Love your Halloween stitches, but I'm not at all ready for fall!

No you are not strange. I am often not part of popular opinion or priorities. To each their own.

In all my life I never had the luxury for designer merchandise so I could care less, plus I am obese. Designer clothes are even harder to find, lol. Though I do like designer hand bags but I don't go crazy about them. I rather spend my money on stitching stash. Your stitching is beautiful.

I'm every bit as strange as you are girlfriend. I cannot understand what the big deal is about the parties the ladies go to, to look at purses. I'm not a big clothes buyer. Haven't got a lot of shoes. I'm happy and have stash besides. What more could I want?

I think "strange" has some negative connotations - right or wrong - so I would think of you as "unique and fortunately so..." 'cause it's for the better.
