Something I am wondering: Why do people say they hate going to Walmart? Is it the store, the prices, or...clears throat...the people? I don't mean the people with interesting clothing choices. We all know that is an entertaining aspect of going there. ;-)
While I don't like crowds, the things that bother me are when people become inconsiderate. How? By standing and chatting blocking both sides of the aisle, texting while driving a cart (look for it and you will see), and the dog-eat-dog mentality during a sale or the mad rush for the last bag of marshmallows during Thanksgiving shopping.
So...what's your story about hating Walmart?

I love Walmart! But I hate going there because I always spend more money than I planned to :)
I also find we don't get as many interesting dressers up here in Canada :(
I was there yesterday. I would agree about the people standing in the aisle with no consideration to those who need to pass through. I usually just stand there, inches away from their backside until they turn around and see me there. Sometimes I'll need to say something because they just don't care!
I hate the crowds and the same things as you, but also I hate that Wal-Mart isn't "Buy American" any more! Everything is made in China!!
I don't hate Walmart. I shop there several times a week. There are rude people everywhere, I don't think there are more of them at Walmart. We have three Walmarts within a few miles of our house so I rarely encounter the crowding that stores in other towns might have. When I shop at Walmart I save money. And the more money I save, the more stash I can buy! haha
It is ONLY because of the people!! Very unhelpful employees. Rude behavior of shoppers and employees. And they don't even realize it! Or maybe they do and do NOT care. I mean.... at all!
We shop at Wal-Mart regularly but we consider it a necessary evil. It's always crowded, even at 11 pm at night. There are definitely some "trashy" people there. I've cringed at some of the t shirts I've read.
Everyone thinks that their food is so cheap but Kroger can be just as cheap. Plus the "Great Value" brand generally tastes horrible (the Kroger brand is better). I've also had some bad dealings with kitchen items I've purchased there recently that didn't last more than 30 days so I've been shopping elsewhere where they have higher quality items.
We used to prefer Target but we're not so thrilled by the organizations that they support so we go there sparingly now. I wish there was another retail option.
I agree with you..and i also hate that people bring the whole family... there is just not enough room for the whole family.
WEll we don't actually hate walmart per sec we just hate shopping in general.

Hello Parsley
We don't don't have Walmart but we have Tesco and I hate it!
For me it's the people who park thier trolleys in a way which blocks the aisle then wander off to look at something else.
Have a good day (:
We don't have it here but our equivalent is Asda and we think the screaming kids is about the worst of it. Oh and those overloaded shopping carts that gravitate to ones feet. BOL coming out in hives just thinking about it. Have a wonderful Wednesday.
Best wishes Molly
I quit going to Wal Mart. Period.
I don't need to see any more butt cheeks and cracks, rude people spitting on the sidewalk, dirty diapers dropped where one is supposed to park one's car and did I mention rude people. I've had my fill. The gathering place for such people is apparently Wal Mart.
I actually love Walmart. There's something about a one-stop-get-everything place that kinda appeals to me. However, the one time I did NOT enjoy Walmart was when I stopped with my son at midnight on the way home from a hockey game to get some clothes for a costume party (his).
The *clientele* at that time of night was just a little scary!
xo
I used to hate Walmart only because I'd get a headache going in there - probably because of all the fluorescent lighting. But I don't hate Walmart for making things affordable for many people who wouldn't otherwise be able to own them. Food, clothing, tools, are often so much cheaper. I can understand why people shop there. But I do still hate the Walmarts that are dirty, have narrow aisles, and leave me wanting to FLEE.
Ugh, the closest Wal Mart to us is just, how shall I say...trailer park trash. It's just not worth going. And the lines - it always takes like 20 minutes to check out of there! Much rather deal with Target.
I do not go to Walmart for shopping...I do not like crown neither...But my girls love it.:)
I dislike going to Walmarts - I think its because of the poor way they treat their employees and the "not made in the USA" things - but also...
well.. this will sound odd... but often times when on vacation with the parents - they will forget something and "have to go to the Walmart" (where ever the nearest one is) and shop there - I really hate "wasting vacation hours" in a Walmart!!!!
Mine is the line ups
They are really rotten to their employees and the benefits they offer aren't all they're cracked up to be. Son and his wife's health insurance has a $6000 deductible before they kick in anything. Also, when they get returns and repackage for resale they don't indicate that parts are missing or damaged.
You summed it up, girl! I only go there for needfuls for my classroom. But it is true, I see it here in good ol' Amish country, in the market. But the texting while carting thing. I do need to watch for it. I think it is going to be like listening to "Um's"...
Hee hee! Good discussion!
Love and hugs!
Heather
For me, I hate the rude customers, the rude employees and Walmart's business practices. I hate that they purchase the right to use a brand name on a product that is not manufactured by that brand so you may think you're buying a good brand, when in fact, you aren't purchasing that brand at all.
The biggest thing is that I was accused of trying to pass counterfeit money. It was humiliating and totally inappropriate. Upon proving that I did nothing wrong and my cash was authentic, the manager didn't even apologize. I wrote a letter to the president of Walmart and the response was that it was just an unfortunate case of poor customer service. The store associates tarnished my reputation by causing such a scene and all walmart can tell me is it was poor customer service.
So, I haven't set foot back in that store and it would have to be the last place on earth before I would shop there again.
I would much rather pay a little more and shop at a local small business than at Walmart any day.
We agree,we don't like the talking in aisles. Mom said she people watches there, BOL
Benny & Lily
My gripe is the shelf fillers who always seems to be filling the shelves in the busiest aisles at the busiest times and taking an age to do it!
Ugh, in a small town it is a necessary evil. I used to like them more, but now I have been frustrated with always having to wait in long lines to check out, that everything is made in China and that they have put so many companies out of business, and the poor pay and benefits for the employees.
I agree with you, such rude people.
I think Walmart equivalent in UK is Asda!! Although the shop is ok (I always spend more than I plan to), for me it's the people!! Selfish & ignorant...
I don't like shopping in large stores of any kind be it WalMart or Nordstroms. I much prefer small shops that line down town Main Streets. That being said, I've been told I shop like a man; it's more a mission than an putting. I know exactly what I want and am in and out in minutes. What drives me crazy in stores are people on cell phones. Seriously? Does anyone have an unexpressed thought? I also hate when someone meets a neighbor or friend and decides to have a half hour reunion in the middle or end of the aisle. Also, for the love of God, pajama's are not meant to be worn in public -- especially if you are a middle aged woman. Last but not least, ramming your cart into me will not make the check out line go any faster.
I usually avoid it. The ones in our area (50 miles plus radius)) aren't as trashy as some in other parts do the US, but they're full of junky products and I too don't like the way they treat their employees. We have a new one that's just groceries and the prices are OK but not any better than Winco.
Just thought of my top pet peeve when shopping (can't believe I forgot to include this in my original comment)
I HATE when people unload packages from cart to car and don't return cart but leave them in the parking lot! The epitome of laziness!
