It opened up old wounds for me with the loss of my close friend Nancy, who also died in her battle with breast cancer. I cried and then I thought....what would Nancy and Cathey tell all of us?! They would say LIVE, LOVE, be HAPPY and make others happy.
So (as I wipe a tear from my face again) I would like to share something HAPPY! I think Cathey would approve because I met up with a stitching friend and we went stitchy stash shopping!
This week, my husband (who is off work due to the govt. shutdown) drove me to Tulsa to go to the Silver Needle. Oh yeah...you got it right...THE Silver Needle- the huge, full of goodies, cross stitcher's paradise.
I live just under 3 hours from there. I had never been and I probably wouldn't have gone EXCEPT that Ma Teakettle, AKA Karyn, was driving through the area on her way across the states.
| I have on a dog shirt, of course. |
Just look at us! We were like friends who had known each other forever. It was so comfortable and real. Karyn was just as lovely and sweet as I imagined she would be. I also met her dear husband and their beloved dogs.
I had a gift for her of candies, homemade cinnamon rolls, a fall pumpkin scented candle, and this cushion.
She gifted me sweet goodies, and got us matching scissor fobs as a reminder of our trip together. (Thank you Karyn!)
And stash...oh yes...I got a few things while there. I decided to get a rather HUGE project to start called Quaker Christmas II, Songs of the Season and some 'potato' colored Lugana. The floss I'll use will be from Victorian Motto Samplar.
I also got a kit to stitch up for next Halloween and this Thanksgiving pattern. Looove them!
So...with a deep breath and a thankful heart for the connections I've made, past and present, that is my post for today. Thanks for being here.

How wonderful you got to meet a stitching friend in person and to visit The Silver Needle together.
The stitching community is so full of lovely ladies and they bestow oodles of love and kindness towards each other.
A very lovely post about friendship, perfect for today.
Bless you
{big friendly hug to you} xx
A lovely post Parsley! I wish I could "meet" all of my stitching friends and share a wonderful visit like you did, how great would that be?!
Yes, I too feel heavy hearted. I am so glad she no longer struggles and suffers.♥
So fun to meet Karyn! How very, very neat that worked out for you two.
Luck you to meet a stitchy friend and to get to go to the Silver Needle. I am curious. What color red and green are you using. I love her colors and those are particularly nice.
Thank you for your help
Rose
Glad you were able to get to Silver Needle and meet up with Karyn! You came away from your shopping trip with some lovely goodies.
I agree with you on the gift of friendship and the connections made through the internet.

Bless you Parsley ....we are so sorry to read about your friend. To be an island in life is to feel no pain but what is the point of that? Glad you had a good time at Silver Needle. Have a fabulous Friday.
Best wishes Molly
The Silver Needle really looks like an amazing store! I don't think we have anything like it around here!
I am sorry for the loss of your friends, and I agree, they'd want you to love live and be happy.

Sweet post Parsley, so hard to lose a friend.....Hugs Francine.
Glad you had a great day with your friend. Silver Needle is an awesome store. I had the privilege visiting the store twice when I was in that part of the country. I am sadden to hear about Cathey.
Cathey's passing has affected so many of us ~ she touched so many of us over the years ~ and I agree! she would approve of your post about meeting with a stitchy friend when given the opportunity!! Hugs....
I always love to hear about blog friends meeting in real life! And how cool that you guys met at The Silver Needle! I was there last spring with my daughter and DIL - it's overwhelming. Thanks for sharing a happy moment with us!
How wonderful that even while we grieve, God brings new joys to our lives. Not to forget the past, but to remind us that He loves us and holds our future. Lovely post, and lovely to meet a new friend! (love the dog shirt.) :-)
You know Parsley, I know that Cathey saw some of these post!! I know she looked at mine (you can see it through the stats), so I'm sure she saw what we done for her & must have been so touched...It is so sad she is gone but her pain is no longer. You were right to meet a friend & also go for a little stash shopping trip :) I am so envious, that shop looks like Aladin's Cave for stitchers :D Great new stash & take care. Hugs & xxxx
Aren't blogging friends simply the BEST! And the loss of one of them leaves a wound in our heart. I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend, Cathey.. Sending warmest hugs to you, Parsley...
Rejoicing that you and Karyn met.
It sounds like a wonderful time that you spent together. Like I said, aren't blogging friends the best!!!
So nice that you were able to meet up with Ma. Google maps says The Silver Needle is about 4 hours from me. I hear there's also a huge LNS in OKC but that's at least 2 hours away.
Meanwhile, I'm waiting on this impending grandbaby...
I am so sorry You have lost Your friend!
I have also learn the lesson to enjoy life and be happy everyday, see all the good things Good Lord has given us -The family, the Chruch ,my two cats and the adorable Chow Chow puppy.
Misty the Chow hasa very good personality ,she is very gentle maybe little bit shy but very loving dog.
She is now a "teenager puppy"
(7 months old)and is changing her super flyffy coat to even more huge and beautifull adult coat. I just brushed her to take off all that that beby hair.. she almost slept because she enjoys it so much. Taking care of my dog and kittyes bring me joy to heart everyday.
I am sure You had great time at the Silver needle .The Quaker Christmas pattern is very beaitifull.
Just love it !
I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend. I'll bet you are right about your friends wanting you to smile and live life to the fullest. Isn't it great to get to meet blogging friends? It truly is like connecting with old friends that you've known forever. Of course, the one blog friend I want to meet is our Iggy. One of these days! You definitely were in stitching heaven. Wow what a place!
Dear Parsley -
My prayers go out to the friends and family left behind now that Cathey has been called home. I didn't know this when I posted a tribute this morning on The Fairfield House Facebook page to all women, but especially those fighting for their lives and the ones that died trying. Stop by and listen to the song when you are able.
I am happy you had the chance to meet another blogging friend and what better place for a fellow stitcher?
Your Friend,
Deborah

How lovely that you got to meet Karyn. I bet you both had a brilliant time.
I think there are many of us who have been affected by Cathey's passing. It is so sad and I feel for her family.
I think that Cathey would approve!
So wonderful for you guys to meet up at such a wonderful place. Great gifts and stash.
Hugs
A lovely post, Parsley. So sorry to hear about Cathey's passing. Praying for her family, and for you, as you grieve for her.
GOD BLESS!
The wonder and joy of a new friend barely covers the hurt and sadness of a lost one - and one lost to a horrid disease at that.
I'm sure that she has gotten her wings and harp and is watching over those precious to her.
ho my , I already ordered to the Silver Needle
it's a real paradise for us =D
so lucky you were to be able to go there, and moreover to go there with a blog friend
wow so happy for you both
you're lovely on this pictures girls =)

I used to cross stich and I loved it. I'm not sure why I quit.
Lovely post. Love the look of The Silver Needle.
Hey, I am doing Songs of the Season too - it is my Wed night SAL with Amanda and Evalina, although as I have made an error on it and I am doing all that JE RR stitching I haven't stitched on it for a while - do you want to join us?
Joy and sorrow go hand-in-hand. Glad you were blessed with meeting Karyn and going to The silver Needle.
not that I am jealous or anything but how wonderful you got to meet Ma and also got to go to the Silver Needle ... sooo where were our invites then ..lol ....
gorgeous new stash :)
and still hurting but love your sentiment :) love mouse xxxxx
My heart is breaking as I just heard about Cathey's passing.
Your trip sounds wonderful!
We have truly lost one of our own :(
But your sentiments are right on the spot. We should keep people we hold dear in our hearts and live and laugh for them.
I'm insanely jealous about your stash shopping trip! Looks like it was one heck of a day... not sure if I'd ever emerge from the pile of goodies!
Happy Stitching
Melissa
