Adventure or Insanity

We were SO lucky with the winter storm. Yesterday it was less freezing rain and more sleet which did NOT lead to power outages here. Today is snow.

My daughter was thrilled to have her first ever SNOW DAY off of school from the tech school. (When she was homeschooled she didn't get those.) Today is another day off for her, due to road conditions.

Road conditions...schools are closed as is my husband's work place. What does that man do at 7:30 AM? He drives his 4-wheel-drive truck into town for a McDonald's biscuit! HUH?! I mention to him that the workers might not even be there.

What is it with men? (Or do some women do this too?) Is it that men are adventurous by nature, driving out in this stuff, or are they insane? My husband is actually really good at driving in it, especially with his truck, but others on the road are NOT.

He offers to take me but I am in no mood to play road-survivor, or to eat a fatty breakfast. Then he asked for what I need from the store. Nothing. I had plenty in stock well BEFORE weather started to hit.

It didn't strike me until later that I should have sent him with this shopping note:

Hemorrhoid creme
laxative pills
enema
Tampons
maxi pads
pregnancy tests

Yep, that might have fixed the 'urge' to shop for nothing in particular. ;-)

Parsley,
If your words didn't ring true they wouldn't be so humorous! {Besides didn't OK fast food workers walk off their jobs demanding more money?} I would have added National Enquirer and Male Adult Diapers to the list! I suggest you make yourself a pot of tea, find a good book or an old movie, and cuddle up on a comfortable chair! Enjoy your snow day!

I didn't know you home schooled your daughter. Neat. I home school my son. I gave him a few snow days though. Just because every friend he had had the day off too so I thought it was only fair haha. We joked about it being too dangerous to walk to the school room haha.

Hubbies are great. Too funny about your story. I think that list might have stopped him haha.

LMAO at your shopping list!!

A good hubby wouldn't bat an eye at that list though... :)

I'm glad you are keeping warm and have food around --

I had to laugh.. I sent my hubby into town for cream and he came back with heamorrhoid cream....I actually wanted double cream for dessert! My hubby is the same, and again, he is a professional driver: but the other idiots in their four wheel drives seem to think they are invincible and slip all over the place and end up injuring others. Stay warm and safe!

We are stranded here too as well down in DFW. School was called off (although our ISD took forever to make the announcement) and my husband was told not to come to work. We did venture out to Dollar General for drain cleaner and Tylenol for the girls. The roads were all ice. He is going to beg off from his boss for tomorrow as it won't get above freezing until Sunday.

The highlight of the day was Em taking Zoé in the backyard to play in the snow. Zoé knocked all the icicles off the window sills going "no, no, no" for each one.

It seems to me that when the weather folks say to stay in, there are certain people that take that as a dare to venture out. I guess in our area, where we have long winters, we're used to having to navigate the bad roads. Glad you're all safe and sound.

I really do not know what to say beacuse here in Finland we have snow since November to late March..but it is all si differen here. When it snowes immediatly there will be "an army" very big vehicles cleanibg th roads. We do no even pass the driving test without taking a special course of riding in icy or snowy conditions. We have also a law of changing special winter tyres to all cars and trucks keepig then untill spring.. And most cars have also special ABS breaks and other things for making it more easy.
And in very snowy conditions .

An the schools ,offices and shops are open even it is terrible cold or we have snow storm..
I wish You all drive safe and have Your Guardian Angelsbeside you!

It always works that way doesn't it? You don't think you really need anything. Then you get stuck when you do need those odd things!!

Snow Days sound like fun to me! We don't have that sort of cold weather here in Melbourne so it is a very rare occasion for the city to be shut down. One year we had a red dust cloud that was pretty awesome (but awful for the farmers who lost all of their topsoil) but even that didn't shut the city down.
