Hello dear friends....winking at some of you wondering why I haven't posted....;-)
I have so many things to share with you that I'm struggling what to write first and which things to include in this post.
Firstly, this is the 15th and it's time to show what progress I've made on my BAP (Big Ambitious Project). My sweet stitchy sister Ma Teakettle (Karyn) should have her post of her BAP coming on today as well. Give her a 'Howdy and a keep it up cheer'. We are going to need encouragement to finish these Big A Projects!
I'm stitching Quaker Christmas, Songs of the Season on 28 ct. Potato Lugana with Victorian Motto Sampler flosses.
Monday, I start classes for EMT. What a mess it was to get enrolled. Sometimes you wonder how 'business professionals' got their jobs. I was given an enrollment check sheet in the fall but was told last minute I needed other items completed. I managed to get everything in order and two weeks later was told I needed other items including a flu vaccine.
After researching, I opted to get the shot instead of the spray and darned if I didn't have 5 days of muscle cramps/charlie horses in my legs. OUCH! I think I'm past that side effect.
One 'side effect' of my announcing interest in the EMT program was my husband asking me to join his volunteer fire department. This month, the guys voted me in to join as a medical responder/fire fighter, though I do not plan to battle flames except to drive a truck if needed.
I was required to take a 'driving test'. My instructor was difficult...it was my husband ;-) One thing for sure, he wanted me to know all the brush-trucks. I drove THREE while he said the other guys just tested in one truck.
Here's a pic of me in a military truck turned into a fire truck. That thing is a BEAST but I somehow managed to back it in the bay, etc.
My final update is that our daughter is now an official college student at 17. The day before classes I helped her do something special. She wanted a BLUE streak in her hair. Rather than pay a lot for a professional dye-job, she bought a kit and I bleached and applied the color per instructions. She was rather pleased that she went to her first college class with her new style.
I did have a serious talk with her prior to this change. I informed her the truth about how people can react negatively to 'non-conformity'. Employers...teachers...friends...family. She says she's ready for the backlash. Trust me, there will be some, and some will not be silent.
Regardless, I think it turned out really cute! She is now thinking I should do a pink streak in mine. LOL
Well, if you are still reading, thank you. It means a lot to have you here and I plan on reading and commenting on your blogs in turn.

Holy Toledo! That is a big truck to drive!! Good for you.
You have really been busy! You are to be commended for wanting to be an EMT and volunteer fireman. Good for you!! Best of luck!
Good for you, Parsley! I think it is great you took on the big truck and won! Go Parsley! Best of luck to both you and your daughter as you journey down the road in your schooling endeavors.

PS Your BAP is looking good! Which VMS floss are you using?
I'm so proud of you for pursuing your desire to be an EMT. I know you will be successful and will enjoy being on your husband's team!
Good for you!! No idea what EMT stands for but good luck!! Wishing all the best to your daughter too :)
Wow! Look at the B-A-Truck!!!!
I don't think I'd want to back it into a bay - or even drive down some narrow streets with it! Go Parsley!!! Putting the pink streak in your hair will be just about as brave huh? :)
Don't you need a red steak to match the giant trucks??!?? I don't think I could ever feel confident driving one of those...you are awesome!
Love the Ambitious project...at least you have the satisfaction of finishing these sweet little motifs!
Great work on your BAP. Keep it up!
Congrats on driving that huge truck. I have real bad depth perception problems so it's not something I would be doing. Sorry it was such a hassle getting signed up.
Love your daughter's blue streak. People shouldn't judge people but boy they do. Tell her I like it.
OMD not one truck but 3. Way to go with hair. Reminds me of crazy colour way back when. It was supposed to wash out but sometimes refused. LOL. Have a wonderful Wednesday.
Best wishes Molly
I am still in shock that people would react to that; in colleges in the UK we are used to kids with peircings, dyed hair, mohicans, and all sorts as they create their own identity...before settling back down to normal when they go into work. I think she looks amazing..I love the colour. Blue is the only colour I havent gone haha. Congrats on all your new challenges: I know you will fly as you too come into your own!
Is it a very conservative college she is going to? I, too, can't imagine that would be considered too wild here at Melbourne Universities. Way to go on becoming and EMT and joining your DH's volunteer fire fighting brigade. I am very proud to be your friend.
Good luck with the EMT classes Parsley. That is a big truck.
Linda
Good luck with the EMT classes. I had wonderful instructors and classmates and I wish the same for you!
Great progress on the BAP too.
Oh, my goodness--I can't imagine you driving that monster of a truck!! Way to go, girl!! And best of luck in those EMT classes.
Your BAP (Like your words much better, by the way!) is looking so pretty--hope you continue to have time to stitch with all you have going on :)
Loved catching up on all this news! I don't know, but going for your EMT certification sounds like a BAP to me. And, I am really impressed with your ability to drive a BAT (Big *** Truck), too!
As for your daughter's hair, maybe everyone will think she's super creative, not non-conformist. ;)
this blue streak in your daughter's hair is very discrete...she was pleased and maybe it's the most important thing...
it's not a tattoo, it can be removed if 'needed' =)
lovely beginning on your Quaker Christmas
enjoy

You don't need a pink streak -- You are on a streak!
You have been busy and making progress in so many areas. Hear me in NJ cheering you on? "Go Parsley Go!" Love the picture of you behind the wheel of that beast of a truck.

Good for you for going for EMT training. My son did so I know it is hard studying. Impressed with your driving and backing skills ; ) Nice start on your big stitching piece.
Wishing you well in all your adventures this year. Well done on the truck driving, not sure I could have taken a test sitting next to my hubby and passed it!
Good luck to your daughter too in college, the blue streak looks cool.
Congratulations on EMT classes, I went to and graduated EMT course back in the early ninety's, I loved it, it is a very rewarding job.
I commend you for joining the fire dept.
Congratulations
Catherine
I just recently bought that pattern. Saw it on someone's blog (yours? lol) and had to have it. It's waiting in the wings. Sigh.
