I don't have proper fire gear yet but I borrowed a jacket and sprayed the hose a few times. I learned a lot by watching how they worked the scene, filled the trucks with water, ran pump motors, and I listened to the radio interaction between the departments on scene.
Great group of hard working guys. (There are some women on these departments but none on this particular fire.)
I had already talked to my husband about 'women issues' when out on a fire call. What if they need to go to the bathroom? It wouldn't be easy like it is for guys who can just turn their backs, unzip, and add some water to the flames ;-) Well, there may be a 'solution' for us women who are brave enough to 'drop trouser'.
I knew these existed but always giggled at the idea. Now I'm wondering if I'll have one of these ordered at some point. We were out on the fire for about 4 hours, after all. I'm just 'country' enough to do my business however I have to but this would certainly make it easier and more discrete. My daughter and I have been laughing and talking about the messy truth of needing to 'make water' when no facilities are available.
Here's some pics of the fire. The fire burned up to the porch of one house but it was fine. It took a LONG time to put the hay bales out! There was a lot of smoke. I worried about the guys getting carbon monoxide exposure and all the 'black' they were breathing in.
Any who.... today will be a study and stitch as a reward day. The wind is HOWLING and I'm hoping for no fires today!

I have seen that product before and it makes me giggle too. However, on the psychological side, it makes me think of penis envy. I suppose the instrument is practical, but it confuses me so much, LOL
The wind is really howling down here too.
Oh my, thank you for the chuckle this afternoon! I have seen grainy/blurry pictures of the 'device' you shared, but never a clear one. Glad you were able to observe and help a bit with the fire.

mmm interesting, not seen one of those before. Do as you have to, its only natural after all, we all have to 'go' at sometime.
Wow those are some brave gals and guys and you too for joining them. Never thought about facilities as never thought how long firefighters are at a job. Hope it is a quiet day and you can get some stitching done. Have a marvellous Monday.
Best wishes Molly
LOL at your product. I'm country enough to just do it the way I know how. My thing about this product is when it's used what do you do with it? Not like you just want to put it in your pocket.
The wind has been horrendous here. Just staying in and stitching away the winter.
It's been awful cold for fire fighting ... I hope you aren't "making ice" - gadget or no gadget!
Please God don't let my employer see that product...or we really will be chained to our desks all day!
I really feel bad for the firefighters getting called out this time of year. High winds, sub-zero temps and blinding snow make fire fighting especially difficult.
