Modesty Stickers

I'll let you in on a little secret...I'm silly. Here's what happened to an old EMT book I was reading after my daughter saw me studying it a few months back. HA! Nudity doesn't bother me especially when it's in a teaching or care-giving environment but I, err WE, thought this was better. ;-)

This brings me to a topic on my mind...modesty.  We've all heard or perhaps SEEN pop-stars strutting their stuff, spreading their legs, using sexually suggestive moves, twerking their pelvises, and wearing very little to cover their private parts.

Tool catalogues and car magazines have women showing their bodies with looks of 'I want you' on their faces while holding a wrench. Really? COME ON!! I've had enough of it, and I wish more people would stand against that behavior. When did women have to act like this to be considered worthy of attention?!

Why is it that people, even married folks, brag publicly about what goes on in their bedrooms? Why have people turned portions of their private lives into a public display?

In the book, A Pilgrim’s Regress, by C.S. Lewis, there was a man who ordered milk in a restaurant.  He commented how delicious the milk was and the waiter replied, “Milk is only the secretion of a cow, just like urine and feces.”

The man thought and replied, “You lie. You don’t know the difference between what nature has meant for nourishment, and what it meant for garbage.”

Art can use nudity for beauty or for teaching purposes, while pornography uses it to stimulate the baser instincts of people. People are putting out a form of porn, not art, when they do these things in the public forum. We are not animals.

Time for a morality and modesty check! I don't think I have enough stickers to go around!

I agree with you. It is outrageous and disgusting sometimes. Who needs the filth?! This is why we rarely see movies. We just raise the kids to be Godly and know that they have good values in place and will make wise choices.

I couldn't agree with your more, Parsley. I have some leftover sticker from my teaching days I could share with you.

True...moderation in all things. I always think the packaged gift is often more exciting than what is inside it lol...but sex sells apparently. We have got so clever re: science etc but where morals are concerned, we seem to be sliding backwards and goodness knows where it will end.

Very true! I have tried to instil a sense of modesty but some of the things Luke (12) knows I am amazed at. I had no idea at his age!

Parsley, a word well said today! And that quote from C.S. Lewis was good. I remember reading something once (actually, I remember being able to remember once - LOL!) - reading something about how the enemy doesn't often use evil to tempt us. Most of us would shy away and run in the other direction from out-and-out evil. The most serious threat is twisted good. The devil loves to take a good, God-ordained thing (when used in the right context and timing), and twist it to his evil purposes. (I seem to think this is also something I read from Lewis).

I thought of that as you discussed nudity and modesty issues.

Lord, help us - truly.

(Sorry about the very lengthy comment!!)

So true! Great post. Why do we give these crude celebrities the time of day - or rather, air time on national news, as though we approve of that base, disgusting behavior. Nebuchadnezzar ended up crawling around on all fours and eating grass. That's a step up from what some of these 'celebrities' are doing. We need to strive to find role models for our children among real heroes, not celebrities or sports figures. And also as parents, we need to be brave enough to say, loudly, that something is crude and rude and stupid.

Mom and I were just talking about this and we agree that it's what is taught at home that sticks with a child. Learning right from wrong early on is our only chance to reach them with all the garbage out there. Learning and holding onto our Christianity is crucial, now, more than ever before. I will instill that in my kids and grandkids as long as I live and ask them to pass the word. It works. Most kids are smart and do know the difference of what's right and not.

Well said. Sometimes it feels like we have gone backwards. Have a fabulous Friday.

I wonder if they make 'grande' size stickers?

Most celebrities aren't worth the attention paid to them. They are just people - and money and fame can quickly go to most people's head.

I like the stickers!! Somethings we just don't "have to" see!

I have to come back and re-read this post. I am laughing my head off at the fact you even said "spread their legs" at all.

I so agree. I am not a prude but come on...we don't need to see all we do and we don't need to hear all the intimate details and the language! Take movies.....we all knew what going on when the couple turned off the lights without having to see them out of their clothes, etc., etc. We should start a movement! Great post!

A good post. I am very liberal minded but do sometimes cringe at some of the music videos I see....just too much.
