I am giggling. I was interviewed by a reporter from the Wall Street Journal. No joke.
On facebook, I started a group called 'The Plastic PoPo'. In our little town, the police department uses a CPR dummy in a patrol car to park in areas where they want drivers to slow down. It works too! No matter how many times we see the car, we always check our speed just in case he is not the Plastic PoPo.
Get this...the Plastic PoPo was hit by a drunk driver!! He was off patrol while he was 'recovering'. People sent get well cards to the police station and everything. He's back on duty now and the selfies and fun continue. Local news spread to state news, then to national news!
The reporter called to get some info on our PoPo and asked how the town seems to feel about it. It has nearly 600 members on the group because we all think it's hilarious.
If you see a dummy cop, AKA, Plastic PoPo in your town, you can blame it on us. ;-)

In other news, our fire department got called out on a bad accident: four wheeler vs. car. A helicopter was called in for one patient. I thought this picture was fantastic showing how so many companies worked together. We may be a small town, but we have great professionals and volunteers. Photo credit to Ada News. I enjoyed reading your story about the plastic PoPo. Personally, I think this is a fabulous idea. Super photos, Parsley! I think big metropolitan areas could learn a thing or two from our smaller communities.

Oh my goodness! Isn't that a great idea though, the fake cop. Love it!
What a great story!! And what a great idea!! I'm surprised more towns don't employ this method of keeping the speed limits down...
I LOVE the Plastic PoPo!! You're a riot!
You are blessed to live in such a supportive community. I hope everyone involved in the accident is okay.
Too funny. Love that he got get well cards and stuff. That is a great shot of the accident. It's always nice when little towns work together. I'm from a pretty large town and we have people who fight for who gets the thanks before we help each other.
There is a town that I know of that parks a police cruiser in such a way it looks like a "speed trap" - and after awhile the locals all joke about it saying the only time it ever moves is to go to the garage to be inspected once a year.
Momma's spotted a dummy in a car several times in different towns she's lived in, especially in school zones. Sometimes that's all it takes to get people to slow down!
A great Idea. I've read where single females have a guy who can sit beside them on journeys so undesirables don't know they are alone.
Funny story Parsley. Do you live in Ada, Ok? I have a friend that lives there.

Parsley,
I had to laugh that your "plastic Popo" was hit by a drunk driver. I wish it were a plastic police officer that I recently came into contact with. I received two tickets -- one for speeding and one for having my expired license on me and not my current one {I mistakenly cut up my new one and placed the old one back in my wallet.} It cost me over $400. :/

Hey! This post is so funny!
In my town, we actually had a woman plastic cop--Officer Cindy! You never knew where she would be parked!!! HA She had long blonde hair and they perched her all over the place! I don't know what even happened to her...hopefully she didn't have an accident like yours did!
Too funny!
