Fair Time and Stitch Stash

It's county fair time. As a 4H leader I'm going to be busy so I will be hit and miss online. Please excuse my absence on your blogs.

Not only are the kiddos entering things in the fair, but I am too! I have a cross stitch to enter and I am making a cake to try to win a PINK kitchen-aide mixer. (crossing fingers) I'll post the results and the recipe when things calm.
___

On the stitching front, I tried to dye 'tea' colored Monaco fabric in TEA! Here's a pic of the results. The darker one is my stained piece. I kinda like it!

I also got my Halloween order in. I'm going to stitch this on 32 ct linen. I just loved haunted houses and pumpkin patterns, but I'm not happy about the witch in the corner. I think I'll change it to something else.

Do YOU ever change up a pattern to suit your likes?

Yes, Parsley, I have been known to take birds out of samplers and put in poodles. =) I would take the witch out too. I do not celebrate Halloween though.

Nice job on the tea dye! Yes, I will change a pattern to suit my needs. I think everyone has at one time or another. I will be keeping my fingers crossed you get the pink kitchen aid mixer. Good Luck!

The fabric came out great! I want to try that sometime too, just keep putting it off. I know what you mean about the witch. I am not a big 'witch' person- I don't see why they have to be in so many of the Halloween designs. Hoping you win big at the fair! :)

I change patterns all the time. Sometimes I omit motifs or alphabets or use bits and pieces of a chart to make needlebooks and pincushions. The possiblities are endless.

Oooooh, I like the Prairie Schooler Halloween design - I am never really brave enough to change designs around but I admire people who do.

P.S. Good luck with your entries in the County Fair.

I have not yet changed a kit but I have put multiple items together to create my own design. Good luck at the fair to both you and the kids.

Parsley,
Good luck to you and all your 4H club members at the County Fair! {I wish ours was held in September. It's always the last week of June and so hot. One year, while showing my horse, I passed out!)
Just now noticed Pepsi. You will have to do a post telling us about that dog.

That will be a very pretty halloween finish :) hope to see your start soon!
Sometimes I change a bit.. Change colors or I stitch just part of some design (not the whole thing), we have to make things work, right? ;)
