I feel like a candle. A single flame burning, living. The darkness is surrounding me. The world is hollow, empty, black. It's winds howl and my flame flickers.
I strain my eyes to see anything but the glow from my own flame. Nothing but emptiness. I wait.
As I begin to despair, I see a small glow coming toward me. One candle joins me, then another and another.
Other flames begin joining me in the center of the darkness. Together we are a flame, a hope against it.
We turn inward to block the winds from snuffing out our flames. The light from our candles no longer gets lost in the surrounding darkness, it becomes a focused beam that glows straight up to the heavens.
As we stand silently, we realize we are a remnant, a beacon that begs come, stand.
Matthew 5:14-16
14 "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

Very well said! Especially in this day and age, we must unite so our candles shine brighter than ever to a lost and dying world.
Good read, yes if we are burning, and giving off light, for sure we are a beacon to some who need direction.
I like the thought and thanks for stopping by the Ships log.

My light shines constantly --even when I am 'blue'.... I don't want us to ever hide our lights under a basket... God wants us to keep on SHINING!!!!!

You know the happiest and the best thing I have going for me is that I have hope and I know where and who my Light comes from. And I am so thankful that I do. sandie
"This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine"
Thanks for sharing!
Parsley,
I was going to type 'this little light of mine..." but looked up and realized Pam in IL already did. So consider me joining in the chorus. :)
