Dog Busy (and misc)

Did you know the Westminster Dog show starts showing TONIGHT? HOORAY! I love muts but I also love the pure breed. Such fun seeing all the different breeds and guessing who will win 'Best in Show'. Will you be tuning in?

Poor little Cookie. She is going to the V-E-T this morning. (If you get grossed out, skip the rest of this paragraph.) She has an anal gland rupture. It was a total surprise. You can see her hiney easily and we never saw a problem. She never scooted around. Suddenly, she had a swelling and rupture yesterday. I've been doing some at home for her but she needs antibiotics.

Anywhooo...I have been getting dog sitting jobs and enjoying it. Trouble is my breathing. Walking is a problem for me. I have been putting them to the potty pens instead of walking back and forth and so far, it's been fine. Glad I have dog lovers in my family to help if I get tired. Sage is awesome! He loves helping with the doggies, except the poopy clean ups. LOL

Now for a few misc. thoughts:

My daughter is having her birthday this week! She has planned a party where she and her friends will dress as their favorite 'sterotype'. I have my 'adopted daughter' (her close friend) helping us set up the party since I fatigue easily. It's going to be GREAT fun!

I have some stitching started but I'll wait for more progress before I post. I'm waiting for charts to arrive for 'My Garden Journal'. I hope that some of you will consider joining in stitching a few or all of the monthly patterns. See my side bar for the SAL blog. You can follow along even if you aren't ready to stitch them at this time.

Did you hear the Pope is retiring? How are my Catholic friends feeling about this?

I love dogs too..I wish I was closer to help you walk them..a great way to train! I am sorry to hear you are still struggling with your breathing. I hope they sort it out soon. Have you had allergy tests?

There is nothing like taking to the green carpet at Crufts to show your dogs and Westminster is your Crufts.

Enjoy the coverage.

Hope Cookie starts to feeling better soon.

Glad to hear your family helps you out. I sure hope you find out soon what's causing you these breathing problems. I'm keeping you in my prayers.

Strange that a Pope is retiring? I wonder if it's because there is something he is hiding? Not trying to be judgemental. These days you never hear the truth until after the fact if at all..... ;)

I did wonder about the Pope retiring. I don't think that has happened in hundreds of years... and I wonder WHY he is doing it. I am not catholic by any means, but I can't ignore that he is a big figure in religion, so I did notice that. Curious to see what your friends may have to say! :)

Are you telling me you've been helping drain the gland for Cookie? Do you have to poke your finger in the butthole in order to do that? Now thats gross. I've never had to, but if thats how to do it I wouldn't hesitate. If it became necessary. I hope that Cookie feels better after the V-E-T!

As a former Catholic for the first 30 years of my life, I think this is an excellent decision. I loved Pope John Paul, but it was so sad the last few months of his life.

Hi Parsly, Hooray, Westminster! We watched the pre-show last night but it was just a repeat of last years. We're especially excited for the non-sporting group with the Keeshonds! I'll be showing Brody in at DKC early March. I feel for Cookie, our Irish Wolfhound had the same problem, not fun! Enjoy the show tonight and tomorrow! Hugs!

We were shocked by the news that the Pope was retiring but if his health is failing maybe it is for the best. Hope the birthday party is a big success. Do let us know. Have a marvelous Monday.
Best wishes Molly

Parsley,
Hope you and Cookie are soon well. I'm glad your family is helping with those left in your care. Happy birthday to your daughter. Unique party theme! The Pope's resignation is unusual. The last time it happened was 600 years ago. However, I respect his decision. He never wanted to be pope. He is 85 years old. He's tired and not in the best of health. I wish him a happy retirement.
Your Friend,
Deborah

Poor Cookie! I know of the problems with anal glands - my son's beagle has problems sometimes, too. Hope she's up-and-at-'em soon.

Happy birthday to your daughter!

And you take care of yourself, too!

GOD BLESS!

Hope Cookie feels better soon, I totally understand. Even though Sophie hasn't had a rupture she has a lot of problems with her anal glands.

Hope you feel better soon.
A Happy Birthday to your daughter.

I love doggies too! Hope the V-E-T trip wasn't too traumatic for Cookie and that she'll be feeling better quickly.

I'm still trying to decide if I can take on another SAL. Both financial and time concerns are my biggest obstacles.

I hope you have a really fun birthday celebration!!! This must be a first about the pope, has one ever retired??? Seems they all die in office.

So glad that you spelled out "vet" just in case Cookie was near...wouldn't want your sweet pet to think that visit was imminent.
I hope that all works out well.
Sending you hugs and love,
Jackie

Hi Parsley,
It is a sad news that Pope retires.
Two years ago he came to Barcelona to consecrate the Sagrada Familia, and he looked sick and tired.
(I have to confess you that I felt more sympathy for John Paul II)
Hugs

I'm a total dog lover. Our dog is our baby as are our two cats. We had three dogs before that that have passed. Wondered if they figured out what is bothering you yet with the fatigue and breathing..still praying for you:-)
