Talkative Twits

Just after tornadoes ripped through our state, I began to see/hear stuff online that made me sick. No, not the pictures of the devastation, but the comments of people who act concerned but then turn around and use their social media to bring up negativity.

I am reminded of the book 'The Pilgrim's Progress' (modern English version). Chapter 11 seems to describe these people. The main character, Christian, is telling his friend, Faithful, that their new companion 'Talkative', is not as he seems.

'Faithful' seems to be impressed with 'Talkative' because he seems to say all the right things:

"He seems to be a very handsome man", said Faithful.

"Perhaps to those who don't have a thorough knowledge of him," replied Christian, "for he's at his best away from home."..."Everything he has lies in his tongue, and making a noise with it is his religion."

Matthew 12:33-37

33 “Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit. 34 You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. 35 A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. 36 But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken. 37 For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”

A lot of people don't seem to realize that weather-related events are not "controlled" by the people that are affected by them, nor do people have the "totally free" choice to live somewhere else. Comments demonstrating this sort of stupidity rankles me.

There is NOWHERE that is 100% immune to weather-related chaos.

I am choosing to only see the "good" part of the human race's response to this: helping hands, aid, comfort and even just "staying out the way" and quiet.

The other side of the coin is too discouraging to even contemplate.

So true and after what happened in London yesterday we are deeply deeply saddened and have no words.
Best wishes Molly

Sad, but true.

May the Lord make our words full of His grace and love.

GOD BLESS!

Sadly, those fictional characters of the old allegory "Pilgrim's Progress" are still alive today - only not so fictional. And they need prayer as much as the survivors of the tornadoes.

Parsley,
I was spared seeing or hearing unkind words hurled at those suffering with through this devastation. Your response, as usual, is spot on.
Your Friend,

People are sinful by nature and there are a lot of stupid and judgmental things said in any situation like this. Sad, but true.

My grandmother used to tell us children 'if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all' xx

Great post-Amen !!

I have read that book many times It is a real classic !

The sweet little Chow Chow Puppy called Misty Moonlight "Misty" lives now with us.
She is a very sweet girl, very calm and peacefull but happy hearted as puppyes should be :)

Everything has went perfect she sleep, eats, goes to the garden for "her things"and plays with her toys.
The Kittyes have watched her looking very surprised and have sniffed just a little her face.

There have not been any sings of agressive behaviour on our Cats when they are with Misty.
The Girls keep some distance but do yeat rest in the same room with Puppy.I think they do not really understand what this new creature is because they have not seen a dog or any puppy never before.

As usually the Kittyes are more interested in what I am doing than in the Puppy and they follow me as two shadows as usually :)

Beautifully said Parsley! I remember during Katrina, a gal I knew was saying "Why don't these stupid people get on a bus and leave town?" I told her, possibly because they have no where to go and another big factor, some people do not money to just jump on a city bus and leave! I think sometime you really need to stop and listen to what you think you want to say! People live where they live because we all belong someplace and I find ignorance so disgusting! I work with a total dip stick, I am sorry to say, that has no clue what is going on in the world! Too busy caring for her own selfish needs. She did not have a clue what happened in Oklahoma! I am stunned that anyone could be so stupid! Aack!
