A client with 4 of the dogs I was going to care for, cancelled so I'm not as swamped as I thought I would have been. I'm actually glad because it gives me more time to take on graduation party planning.
I'm going to be seeking advice from those of you who have done 'graduation' before. What should I remember to include? What do you wish you would have thought of?
We've figured out food and general color scheme. We are working on a slide show of my daughter's life that is going to make her friends giggle and smile. I guess that is a start. I am also asking her closest friends to share special moments of their time with her (in lieu of a guest speaker).
Would you share your thoughts with me on how to make this day extra special? Please comment below or email me. My daughter is working on her guest list and I will toss any ideas her way to think on. Thanks in advance.

Aw! So sweet. I remember when I graduated from high school, my parents made me a collage of my friends to hang on my wall at college. It was a really nice gift. Or you can frame a group picture and have her friends sign it. That's nice too.
We don't have that kind of thing over here as it use to be very formal. We think all your ideas are great and in the end it is all about family and friendship. Happy planning. Have a terrific Thursday.
Best wishes Molly
Maybe get a cheap , plain tablecloth and fabric pens so everyone can leave her a message to keep .X
When our son graduated we had a not too huge luncheon. I fixed his chair with helium balloons shaped like a graduation hat, "Congratulations", and all those fun graduation mylar balloons and star balloons in school colors. It was the "graduate throne" and it just looked really cute! He actually seemed to like it and seemed pleased to sit there to eat! Kinda silly, but it was fun and easy!
I like Cath's idea but they make stuffed animals that you can sign. You could make a "yearbook" for her either in a scrapbook or by ordering one of those "photo books" My yearbook had pictures of the clubs I was in and my freshman picture compared with my senior picture. My "bio." My parents put in a special message for me with a baby picture of me, you could have friends do the same but with pictures of them and her.
It has been so long ago that my kids graduated. What you have planned so far sound wonderful.
Sounds like you have it all sorted, it's going to be such a special celebration for your daughter and her friends.
There are some good ideas here. It sounds good so far but I like the idea of having something everybody can sign that she can keep.
Good luck and congratulations on your daughter's milestone event!
I'm going to my last graduation shing-ding tonight... my niece graduates.
Oh wait... college too? Ugh.
:P Uncle Iggy
A nice memory book for everyone to sign.
Parsley,
In the invitations include a blank piece of paper (with holes punched to be inserted in note book). Ask everyone to write the ONE best piece of "Life Advice" (it can include a personal experience). They can make it as plain or artistic as they choose. Make sure they sign and date. Have them bring with them to the party. You can include others who aren't attending as well (blogging friends for example). Gather all pages and put into a notebook and present to your daughter.
Your Friend,
Deborah
My niece's school, which was a private christian academy... gave the seniors a train ride party. One car had food and drinks. One car had gaming going on like poker or whatever (which shocked me) and one car had dancing with music and everything. Hannah said she spent all night dancing. The next day she was just GLOWING. She had so much fun.
I do love Joy's idea. A yearbook of some sort. If DD grew up with some of these kids, try to find pictures of them when they were kids. And pictures of them now, embarking on their next stage in life. That will be a huge hit. Everyone is going to want to be looking at it and signing it too. If you can't get one made in time, then maybe after the party you can get it made to include party pictures.
You have been given some great ideas. Will you present her a diploma? We gave our kids one. At first I thought it was just a nice token, but my oldest son needed a copy for college admissions and also for his internship with the FBI. Let me know if you need a link. Have fun with the planning!
