In Loving Memory
In the far, center part of this photo is my husband's Uncle Ed. My daughter is photo right of him and I am smiling at the camera. This was taken many years ago at Disney's California Adventure on a ride we would not have dared to do without his encouragement. Now this is a fond memory of who this man was to us.
I know everyone interprets a person's life by their individual experiences with them and for me, I saw this man as fun-loving, supportive, caring, and one who focused on the importance of children and a child's happiness.
I asked my daughter what she remembered the most and she said, "The calls that he and Aunt Dee made during holidays and birthdays but also the fun times when we visited them in CA." This photo is one of those fun times.
On our last trip to CA in early May of this year, we got to see him. He was up and walking around 'recovering' from illness(es) the doctors hadn't fully diagnosed. He was once again the gracious host, offering my daughter a drink to offset her oncoming migraine. What a caring, thoughtful and kind man he was. He didn't feel well himself, but cared for her needs.
Just a couple of weeks ago in the hospital he was diagnosed as having leukemia and now he is gone. We are deeply saddened.
He and his wife made my daughter feel special. As a mother, I am so appreciative that she was loved by this wonderful Great-Uncle and Great-Aunt. He will be missed terribly. My prayers are for his wife and family because I know this loss is great.
This is a reminder for us all about how quickly a loved one can be gone. Make time for your loved ones. Never miss a moment to love.
